UPS donates money to honor Eight Belles

Thoroughbred Charities of America has received a $10,000 donation from the United Parcel Service Foundation, the shipping company’s charitable organization, in honor of fallen filly Eight Belles.

The gift, which was announced on Tuesday, will be designated to the TCA Eight Belles Memorial Fund, which directs donations to charities involved in Thoroughbred rescue and retraining, as well as research into catastrophic breakdowns.

UPS has been riding a wave of enthusiasm lately amid Big Brown’s success in the Derby and Preakness. He was named in honor of the company, and has a sponsorship deal with UPS.

To donate to the Eight Belles Memorial Fund, call (859) 312-5531. For more information, visit www.ThoroughbredCharities.org.
