Heatseeker, Tiago resume duel at Californian

Santa Anita Handicap winner Heatseeker and Oaklawn Handicap winner Tiago will meet for the third straight time in Saturday’s $250,000 Californian at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif.
Irish-bred Heatseeker started the year with a third-place finish in the San Pasqual Handicap in Jan. He was then beaten a head in the San Antonio Handicap in Feb., but came back to post a 7-1 upset in the Big ‘Cap in March.
Tiago finished fourth — beaten four lengths — by Heatseeker in the Big ‘Cap. He then made a dramatic rally to beat Heatseeker by a head in the Oaklawn Handicap.
When Heatseeker won the Grade 3 Native Diver Handicap at Hollywood Park last December, he was a 30-1 longshot winning the first stakes of his career, and now he is one of the nation’s top older horses.
