Horse Racing at Penn National

Opened on August 30, 1972, in Grantville, Pennsylvania, Penn National Race Course continues to build upon its foundation of history and tradition that has made it a nationally acclaimed track.

Owned by Global Gaming, the Track features American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa season running from March to May, plus an annual Thoroughbred season set to run from August and to December.

Unlike many thoroughbred tracks in  the United States, Penn National Race Course offers year round racing 52 weeks a year, which includes over 200 dates each year. The markee event in the racing schedule is the $200,000 Pennsylvania Governor's Cup Handicap for horses three-years-old and up run 5 furlongs on the turf.
